Visitors from Cowra, Temora, Grenfell, Cootamundra, Yass and Young joined the Boorowa Probus Club at their annual luncheon recently.
In a delightful afternoon of good food, music and a stirring presentation by Joy Jaensch, the 71 participants celebrated their community of active retirees. President of Probus, Ada Cummings, was thrilled with the afternoon and declared it a great success.
Students from Boorowa Central School, under the expert guidance of Laurel Nosworthy, performed a number of solo and group pieces, ranging from funky Trombone pieces to angel-voiced renditions of favourite songs.
Joy Jaensch, our Parish helper, gave an evocative presentation of some of her life’s experiences including introducing her ‘alter-ego’ Jelly Cake the Clown. Jelly Cake has performed over many years in hospitals, arts festivals and even church christenings.
Probus provides regular opportunities for retirees to keep their minds active, expand their interests and to enjoy the fellowship of new friends. The annual luncheon brings together members of surrounding clubs to share information and entertainment. The Boorowa Probus Club meets on the first Monday of each month at the Recreation Club at 2.00pm.
