Last Wednesday night Mr David Philpott, a Director of Boorowa Community Financial Services (Bendigo Bank), presented a cheque for $10,000 to the Presidents of the Boorowa Apex, Lions and Rotary Clubs at the Rotary Meeting which was held at the Ram and Stallion Hotel. This generous donation was made towards the cost of construction of the Open Air Entertainment Structure, known as the “Rotunda”.

The Rotunda will be built by the combined efforts of the three Service Clubs of Boorowa on land donated by Boorowa Council (valued at approximately $25,000) in Boorowa Recreation Park, immediately to the north-east of the footbridge over Ryans Creek, behind the Council Offices.

The Rotunda will provide opportunities for the conduct of community events,

ceremonies, entertainment and other social

activities at a central venue. Current events include, Australia Day Celebrations, Irish Woolfest and Carols by Candlelight and, in the future, with such a facility, there will be opportunities for new cultural events such as “music and opera in the park” as well as

community functions such as school/club based events. These festive activities are very important to promote tourism and for general morale in our community.

The cost of the project is $79,000.

Boorowa Council and Bendigo Bank have donated $10,000 in cash and the Service

Clubs have raised a further $10,000. In-kind support from the Service Clubs is $25,000. This leaves an amount of $26,000 still to be raised. Fundraising is on-going through the collection of old batteries and cash

donations. Contact one of the three Presidents of the Apex, Lions or Rotary for more information or to have your old batteries collected.
