THE results are in from last

weekend’s local council elections.

This term of council for Boorowa, will be interesting with four new

candidates taking their place in the Council Chambers.

This election, Boorowa saw 14

candidates contesting for nine

councillor positions.

After the votes were counted and the postal and preferences decided, the

elected councillors are David Evans who topped the voting tally with an

astonishing 324 votes, new comer Grant Cotter (four per cent of votes), current councillor Lis Webster (five per cent of primary and preference votes) , Julie Poplin (four per cent) who has returned to council after a number of years break, another new comer Gus Clements (seven per cent), current Boorowa Mayor Wendy Tuckerman (18 per cent with a total of 279 votes) and current councillors Neil Gorham (six per cent), Chris Corcoran (10 per cent of the votes) and Robert Gledhill (seven per cent).

Councillors excluded are outgoing councillors Darrell Armour, John Snelling, Cliff Workman and new

candidate Hugh Darling.

The first official council meeting for the elected councillors will be on Monday, September 29, where the first order of business will be the election of Mayor and Deputy Mayor voted in by the nine councillors.

The council meeting is open to the

public and will commence in the Council Chambers at 2pm.
