The Boorowa Rugby Union Club held a charity day on Saturday 31 May to celebrate women, community spirit and to raise funds for the National Breast Cancer Foundation. This is the only national not-for-profit organisation that is dedicated to supporting and promoting high quality research into the prevention, detection and treatment of breast cancer.
The Rugby Club are ecstatic with the community attendance on the day and with the end result which netted over $4000 for the National Breast Cancer Foundation.
Many fun initiatives were planned for the event including raffles, a live band and a player auction, where two of the Boorowa team members and one Uni North’s member were up for grabs for the evening. It was with these activities and the many kind donations from the Boorowa Community that we were able to raise these funds. A combined total of prizes in the raffles were approximately $1500. See page 8 for a full list of people who donated prizes for the day.
The Club would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who helped make the day such a success. Thank you to the Rugby Committee especially Adam Dewar and Roger Warren for the work that was put into the day. Special thanks go out to Taryn and Joanne Rowley, Dermot McGrath for his incredible auctioneering skills, Jack Ryan, Kim Lesslie and the Boorowa Ex-Services Club.
