Watts a Good golf winner

On Saturday 5 April, 14 golfers played a stableford event for Tim Good’s trophy. The winner with a good score of 45 stableford points was Brett Watts. Runner up was Roger Green with 42 stableford points. Ball winners were Rick Bennett 40 points, Dennis Watson 39 points and Tim Poplin 38 points. Nearest the pin winner was Rick Bennett. The unfortunate skirt winner for finishing last was Chris Mason with 28 points, in a close result with Dylan Poplin 29 points, John Hyde 30 points and Cliff Workman 31 points. Trophy donor Tim Good who finished last in 2007, was resplendent in black skirt and black wig.

Golfers played a two person ambrose event on Sunday for Rick Bennett and Dennis Watson’s trophies. Father and son combination of Roger and Chris Mason were clear winners with 62 net 52¼. Trophy donors Rick Bennett and Dennis Watson were runners up with 63 net 54½, while junior golfer Mark Poplin and veteran Cliff Workman were ball winners with 68 net 54¾. Dennis Watson was a ball winner with nearest the pin on the ninth green.

Next weekend golfers play a stroke event for the Peter Robinson trophy on Saturday. On Sunday a mixed four ball best ball will be played for the TK Dwyer Memorial Trophies and as a qualifier for the Keno four ball best ball state wide event. The best three scorers will progress to the South West District Final. The South West Junior golf camp will be at Cloverleigh Golf Club from 16 to 18 April.
