Autumn squash grand final

3/07/2008 8:36:00 AM
In another great Autumn Grand Final of squash, some very close games took place.

Mark Silk, Brian Denahy, Nick Thomson and .Darren Stephens defeated Matt Corkhill, Julie Dymock, Roger Mason and Andrew Southwell 20 points to 101. Games were equal T7al1.

No 1s: Mark Silk showed why he is the No 1 player in the comp defeating our future No 1 Matt Corkhill 3-1. The game had all the shots and some of the longest rallies seen for some time.

No 2s: Roger Mason played above himself defeating Darren Stephens 3-0. This game was played in good spirit. Darren had no answer to Roger’s speed to the ball and touch.

No 3s: Julie Dymock took on veteran Brian Denahy (swabbed for next comp). Julie was playing up a grade and tried her best for her team. On the other hand Brian was playing down a grade and showed all of his skills.

No 4s: Two newcomers, Andrew Southwell and junior player Nick Thomson are both improving with every game. Andrew showed class winning 34 games very close 55-47. Nick’s shots and placements had Andrew on his toes all game. Guile and patience finally went Andrew’s way.

A big thanks to the players from Young who had joined the comp for the Autumn.
