The Boorowa Goldies were defeated 37-5 by Crookwell on Saturday. In cold and difficult conditions, Boorowa conceded points early on which put them on the back foot for the rest of the game. Last minute team changes combined with some experience from Crookwell left the Goldies with few answers in the opening exchanges.
With a 22 – 0 score line after 15 minutes, Boorowa began to show some huge improvements in both their attack and defence. The forward packs began to work together and were quickly dominating their opposition. Boorowa’s only try came from some excellent forward play, with the Crookwell forwards not being able to hold out the determined Goldie’s.
The second half was encouraging for the Boorowa supporters who braved the weather and started to see an increasingly confident Boorowa outfit. The defence from Boorowa was at times brutal, which put the well organized Crookwell backs under pressure. The make shift centre pairing of Adam Mokotupu and Adam Tesoriero was outstanding in both attack and defence, while Mathew McGrath led the way for the forwards.
Best for Boorowa were Mathew McGrath, who also took out player’s player, Adam Mokotupu, Chris Turner and Sam Lynam-Carmody. The Goldie’s will be looking for a win against Jindabyne at home this Saturday, on what is sure to be a great day out.
