Under 8s trounce Adelong

19/06/2008 8:15:00 AM
The mighty Boorowa/Harden under 8s made the trek to Adelong last Saturday and came up with their best performance of the season, thumping the Tigers 42-18.

The home side had enough players to field three teams but the seven boys from Boorowa/Harden showed that quality overcomes quantity with a dazzling display. Max Gay led the way once again in defence and made plenty of tough yards up the middle being rewarded with a long range try and conversion.

Jayden Cutting continued on his scoring spree bagging a hat-trick in another strong display. Brady Halls proved the backbone of the side once again, leading the defence with some great tackles and igniting many attacking raids with some ‘Sonny-Bill’ off-loads.

The boys will be at Harden this week looking to inflict similar damage on the visiting Tumut.

Big win for Muddies U10s

The under 10s made the huge trip to Adelong this week to take on the combined Adelong/Gundagai side. On a beautiful winter morning with little or no wind, conditions were great for football.

The boys played up to expectation and had a great game Jack Stanley back to his brilliant best crossed the line twice with impressive footwork and speed, Alex Blomfield was equally great scoring a try and threatening to get more.

But the try of the game was scored by the bulldozer George Chudleigh running 20 metres and beating half the side to crash over next to the posts.

The defensive effort from the boys was amazing this week all the boys working well together led by Johno Davis, Jacob Carmody, Jock Corcoran and Ryan Hughston. With more ball in their hands this week Marshall Andrews, Michael Croker, Mal Hurley and Tristan Mears had terrific games with big runs.

Sam Beath is developing into a great ball player and is backed up by straight and hard running from Michael Berry and Bradley Wales.

Ben Jenkins played his usual great game and his speed is a great asset for the side. The defence by the boys was a vast improvement on recent weeks and they are starting to work as a team.

A great game and a stirring team song finished off a very satisfactory day. Boorowa defeated Adelong\Gundagai 14 to 6.
