Under 6s

In the first half Jai Allison took position as goalie. Boorowa Tyre Service kept the ball up the opposition’s side with a couple of attempts just missing. Charles Webb scored the first goal.

Second half saw William Wales in the goalie’s position. Charles Webb scoring two more goals making the score 3-0. All players had a great game and spread out through the field. Good luck next week.

Under 8s

The Ex Services under 8s had a fantastic soccer game on Saturday. The first goal was scored by Austin Power. it was scored after Paddy Fahey saved a shot at goal by the opposition, ran the length of the field and passed the ball to Austin who finished the job. Bailey Cooper had a fabulous game. He was always in the thick of the action both in defence and a great run in attack to set up a goal.

Everybody had a great game and the final score was Ex Services 6 and McCabe Partners Lawyers nil.

The score may have been more if all the attempts at goal in the second half were successful. Great team work and well done to the girls for getting in among the action.

Under 10s

Merriman Vets played their second round of soccer in Young again at the weekend and although defeated on the day, they played a very strong game.

Rhys Smith played a magnificent first half in goalie and saved many goals. The Vets displayed strength with some terrific attacking work that earned them four goals, scored by Mark Veness, Patrick Johnson, Nick Stephens and Chandler Power. The half time score was four all.

During the second half Nick Stephens geared up for goalie and although high strong shots passed into the net his team was proud of his efforts. Ben Medway and Tom Hurley both played an outstanding game that earned awards for the game. Rhys Smith scored the fifth goal for the Vets from a great penalty shot however, the opposition hit their form and defeated the Vets 12 to 5 at final time.

The team is looking forward to playing a home game this weekend.

Under 14s

The IGA/West Corner Cafe under 14s went down on the weekend to Young Eagle Boys. Fiona tried hard in the goalie position for the first half and Jeremy saved a few good goals in the second half.

Brooke defended well playing as a back and Sophie worked hard all game but was unable to come up with the goods. Luke played well throughout the game and Nick played consistently in the first half. In the end Young Eagle Boys were too strong but it was a great effort by all the team. Keep up the good work.
